Dowty Propellers Virtual Tour
July 15 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm UTC+1
A virtual tour of Dowty Propellers’ new manufacturing and design facility in Gloucester. The tour will take the audience through the new Dowty factory, built in 2019, to give an overview of how Dowty produce some of the most advanced propeller systems in the world. The focus will be on the materials and process technology used to produce composite blades in particular, and will also give some insight into the new materials and process technologies Dowty is developing to stay at the forefront of Propeller technology for the future of sustainable flight.
Dr. James Trevarthen is a Senior Engineer at Dowty Propellers, where he is responsible for research and development of new composite propeller technologies, including materials, manufacturing processes and composite part architectures. James has been with Dowty for 4 years, prior to which he was at Honeywell Aerospace, working on non-metallic materials and processes for a variety of systems on the F-35, F-22, Typhoon and Gripen among others. James holds a PhD in Advanced Composite Engineering and an MSci in Chemistry, both from the University of Bristol.
